+ Where is your coffee from?

We provide our customers with a full variety of gourmet coffee bags. Each of them comes from a different place and has a different strength and flavour. In summary, our coffee comes from Sumatra, Indonesia - Guatemala, Central America - Ethiopia, Africa - Peru, South America. Read more here.

+ Does this coffee have a strength meter?

Yes, we use a rating from 0 to 5 for indicating the strength of our coffee bags. Dark Roast - Sumatra, Indonesia: 4/5 strenght. Medium Roast - Guatemala: 3/5 strenght. Light Roast - Sidamo, Ethiopia: 2/5 strength. Decaf Roast - San Ignacio, Perú: 2/5 strength.

+ What does 100% Arabica mean?

There are several varieties of coffee plants which coffee beans are harvested from. Arabica is one of the different types of coffee plants. By saying that our coffee is 100% Arabica, we are ensuring our customers that each single coffee bean used for making their coffee bags came from an Arabica plant and had never been mixed up with other coffee plants.

+ What does single origin mean?

Not all coffee types taste the same, nor even every ground coffee grain taste the same when coming from different farms all over the world. In New Kings Coffee, all of our coffee comes only from one single farm for each flavour we offer. No mixtures, more pureness.

+ What is a coffee bag?

It is ground coffee wrapped inside a tea bag. In New Kings Coffee all of our coffee bags are 100% Arabica, single origin, Fairtrade and organic.

+ What is a coffee bag made from?

Our coffee bags are made from Bioweb, a 100% biodegradable product. You can throw your empty coffee bags into your food waste bin! Read more here.

+ Does it contain plastic?

No, our coffee bags are entirely made from Bioweb.

+ What is the size of a coffee bag?

Our coffee bags size is approximately 77mm x 87mm.

+ Can I use cream or milk to get a better flavour?

You can add milk or cream to your cup, instead of water if you wish. It would be delicious by the way!

+ How do you make coffee with a coffee bag?

It is as easy as adding your favourite coffee bag into a cup, adding hot water and infusing for 3-5 minutes. Then stir, squeeze and remove the bag. Enjoy!


FAIRTRADE COFFEE

+ What is Fairtrade coffee?

Fairtrade is an organization responsible for making farmers in developing countries’ lifes easier and fairer. By producing/consuming Fairtrade coffee you can get farmers a better deal. And that means they can make their own decisions, control their future and lead the dignified life everyone deserves.

+ Where is Fairtrade coffee grown?

Fairtrade coffee is produced in developing countries as northern Africa or South America countries. In New Kings Coffee we have a selection of different gourmet varieties of coffee, which have a different aroma and strength each and come from Sumatra, Indonesia - Guatemala, Central America - Ethiopia, Africa - Peru, South America.

+ Is Fairtrade coffee really fair?

The fact that a product is Fairtrade ensures giving farmers better life quality. Consuming of producing Fairtrade coffee means that coffee is more expensive than in supermarkets, so farmers are being paid a better wage. The minimum price for a pound of Fairtrade coffee is £1.06 (£0,23 more if organic coffee).

+ What is the Fairtrade Premium?

Fairtrade Premium is an additional amount of money which goes into a fund for farmers and workers to use.

+ What do farmers use the Fairtrade Premium for?

For joining the Fairtrade programme, farmers must join other farmers and form a co-operative. Each co-operative has democratically elected representative, who decide the best way to spend this money.


ORGANIC COFFEE

+ What does organic coffee mean?

Organic coffee is common coffee, although it lacks of additives, conservants, pesticides or herbicides. This kind of coffee is way better for our health than common commercial coffee, due to its pureness and lack of chemical products.

+ Does organic coffee taste better?

Due to the farming process organic coffee has, it reflects the taste of pureness and real ground coffee. Another reason organic coffee tastes better is the average wage of farmers, as they are paid an extra amount for coffee being organic.

At New Kings Coffee every single package and coffee bag is made out of sustainable and recyclable materials. Our commitment with climate change and human resources is a must in our business. We teamed up with TerraCycle, due to their Zero Waste Box programme we can proudly say we are helping the Earth. You can also send us your empty foil sachets to New Kings Coffee, New Kings Court, Bristol, BS7 8JS and we'll ensure they get properly recycled.

CHARITY

+ How does New Kings Coffee contribute to charity means?

A percentage of New Kings Coffee’s profits are donated to Grounds for Health. We are very concerned about Cancer, and more specifically, about Cervical Cancer. This disease is common in women coffee farmers in developing countries, so we feel we HAVE TO contribute in some way to this issue.
